|  Dear Families, We would like to thank you for your interest in Berkley Child and Family Development Center (Berkley CFDC). We want to take this opportunity to welcome you to our program and explain the application/waiting list process. To become a part of the Berkley CFDC program you must first return your application card and application fee. Application fees are waived only for those families in financial need. (Federally established guidelines for family income determine qualification. If you qualify for financial assistance, you must submit all appropriate scholarship paperwork with your applications). Upon receipt of your application, we enter your name into our waiting list database. The majority of our enrollment typically occurs in the fall. However, people occasionally make life-changing decisions that affect their enrollment at Berkley CFDC (e.g. moving). Life change can result in an unanticipated opening for a child. As a result, we encourage you to join our waiting list as soon as you become interested in our program. Once an opening for enrollment occurs, we immediately look at the waiting list. Because space is limited, we give consideration to individual applications. We pay special consideration to the age distribution of children so that we can assure the best possible environment for our community of learners. After determining the proper age distribution, we work with an established "point system". Our point system takes into consideration things like time on the waiting list, affiliation with our center, diversity, etc. We are an equal opportunity institution. As a result of the application procedures, we are unable to "number" our applicants. Until an actual opening occurs for your child, we are unable to give a definite time frame for enrollment. We invite you to become an active member of our waiting list. Please plan to attend our Open House (sometime during the month of April). Open House presents a wonderful opportunity to visit with faculty, staff and families of Berkley.
