The UMKC Center for Economic Education is an affiliate of the Missouri Council on Economic Education and the Council for Economic Education.  
 

Mission

The mission of the Center for Economic  Education (CEE) is to promote economic and personal financial education by equipping teachers and students with high-quality resources and the skills necessary to improve the well-being of urban communities.

 

Why Teach Economics?

Economics provides the framework from which people and groups make decisions.  A better understanding of basic economics will help young people be:

  • Productive Workers
  • Responsible Citizens
  • Knowledgeable Consumers
  • Prudent Savers and Investors
  • Effective Participants in the Global Economy
  • Lifelong Decision Makers

Resources

Childrens' Literature Lending Library - The CEE has a lending library of over 250 children's literature books that are available on-loan to teachers, community partners, and undergrad students.  Many books listed will show links to available lesson plans and/or resources associated with each book.  To check out a book, E-mail Mary Barnhart  or call 816-235-2254.
