School of Education Academic Advising
The SOE Student Services Office advises students who have declared an education or pre-education major and those seeking admission to a teacher education program. All students are also assigned a faculty advisor for assistance in program and career planning. Appointments are required, please call (816) 235-2234 to schedule.

Student Services Objectives
- act as a referral, resource, and campus advocate for all future and current students in the SOE
- administer admission to the teacher education program
- provide all undergraduate and teacher certification advising
- coordinate the processing of teacher certification at all levels
- coordinate student events and graduation
- administer SOE scholarships
- act as an advisor to SOE student-run organizations
- assist SOE students to facilitate an overall successful academic experience
Undergraduate Advising
Each semester, all undergraduate students are required to meet with an academic advisor prior to enrolling in classes. The following are options:
- Detailed planning: Schedule an appointment with an advisor
- Review of schedule: Stop by during walk-in advising hours
- Electronic review of schedule: Email to education@umkc.edu for approval
Graduate Advising
Future graduate students can schedule an appointment with an academic advisor about available degree options or work directly with the administrative assistants in each of the three divisions within the School of Education to determine the best course of study:
