School Counseling K-12

The Counseling and Guidance Program is accredited by the Master’s in Psychology and Counseling Accreditation Council. The master’s degree is the first professional degree in counseling. Graduates holding this degree will gain the basic understanding and skills necessary for professional practice as a school counselor. Upon successful completion of the coursework and passing of the state exams for school counseling, you will be eligible for school counselor certification in Missouri.

 

In this program students will:

  • Apply for practicum and internship placements in diverse school settings in the KC Metro area
  • Begin working at a school site under provisional certification
  • Create an electronic portfolio to use throughout your career
