Counseling and Educational Psychology

The UMKC Counseling and Educational Psychology programs educate counseling professionals within a model emphasizing awareness of and respect for cultural and individual diversity. The programs bring together faculty who are concerned with the promotion of psychological wellness with the advancement of research in the areas of counseling, learning, and human development.  With an urban mission, we are committed to educating future mental health professionals to improve the welfare of individuals and communities through scholarship and applied interventions.

CEP also administers Community Counseling and Assessment Services (CCAS), an agency that provides counseling and assessment services to individuals, couples, and families in the Kansas City metropolitan area.  CCAS is a counselor and psychologist training center and is the primary practicum placement site for Master's program students, and also a center for research on counseling processes.
