Children's Literature Collection

The School of Education has a Children's Literature Collection in room 135 in the STAR Center. The library includes picture books and chapter books with many types of genres. The collection also carries many award winning books that are popular with children and adults alike. There are also a wide variety of teacher resources and references.

As of Fall 2005, the collection is a non-circulating library, which means that the materials cannot be removed from the STAR Center or checked out overnight. To ensure that all of our wonderful books are available to everyone, students wanting to utilize materials must provide a Student Services staff member with a driver's license or credit card in order gain access to the materials in room 135. When students are finished with the items, we ask that he or she return the materials to a Student Services staff member. At that time, students will be given back their driver's license or credit card.

The library is currently being reorganized while we develop an electronic catalog of the collection.  As a result, materials will not be available for students to use at times.  Please check with a staff member if you have any questions.

The Library's hours are:

Monday, Tuesday & Thursday - 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday - 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Friday - 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

If you have questions, please contact Student Services at 816-235-2234 or education@umkc.edu.
