The UMKC School of Education’s eighth annual Urban Education and Community Forum will feature Alfred Tatum, Ph.D., as keynote speaker on the topic of “What it takes for effective urban education: Advancing the Literacy Development of African American Boys.”
Dr. Tatum is a literary expert who serves as dean and professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His presentation will offer ways to unbind the narrative that is suffocating the literacy development of so many of our nation’s children.
This year’s Forum will be April 3rd from 5-6:30 p.m. in Room 401 of the UMKC Student Union, 5100 Cherry Street, with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. While free and open to the public, RSVPs are requested by March 27.
