Infants & Toddlers and the Great Outdoors: Flourishing through Sensory and Nature Play
Instructor: Susan Myers
Workshop Description: This hands on presentation will incorporate developmentally
appropriate practices for infants and toddlers regarding sensory play and how to
incorporate nature in the everyday classroom. Presentation will focus on the different
ways our youngest children explore with their senses through play and how to build the
foundations for a life-long love for nature and the outdoor world. OR
Early Childhood Learning in the Great Outdoors (Preschool)
Instructor: Becky West
Workshop Description: The natural world was once a young child’s primary play area,
and in the great outdoors, children thrived. As the world has grown more hurried, children
seem to be losing this vital connection to the natural world. Their best guides back to the
outdoors are teachers and parents. In this workshop participants will; recall and discuss
memories from being outdoors in his/her own childhood, explore an outdoor area with the
goal of discovering ways that enhance learning during children’s time outdoors, and
create an outdoor structure or piece of artwork.

Cost for CEU session is $24.00 (0.2 CEUs/2 contact hours)
