Under the direction of new Provost Barbara Bichelmeyer, the repurposed dean’s search committee has been finalized and held its first meeting earlier this month. A heads-up that the University’s 2015 United Way campaign is scheduled for the week of November 2-7. While more information will be forthcoming I do hope you will consider participating and have attached a full list of all the United Way agencies to which you could contribute.

Please help me welcome Ms. Shay Dodson who started today as our new Academic Advisor for all Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education students.  Originally from Houston, TX, Shay most recently worked at Kansas State University where she advised students and served as an instructor or co-instructor for several courses.  She earned her M.S. in Counseling and College Student Development/Academic Advising from Kansas State University and also has a graduate certificate in academic advising.

For those of you who don’t know, Dr. Cynthia Lane, superintendent of Kansas City Kansas Public Schools, last week was named 2016 Superintendent of the Year by her peers. She has led the district for the last five years and has been a committed partner with the SOE.

Upcoming events:

  • October 16 – Town Hall Benefits meeting from 12-1 p.m. in room 307. Lunch will be served, so if you plan to join us please RSVP.
  • November 2 at 5 p.m. – Deadline for Graduate Assistant Fund application submissions and faculty recommendations.
