I was pleased to attend a Town Hall meeting last week which the CEP division held for students in the Master’s and Ed.S. programs in Counseling and Guidance. Approximately 25 students joined CEP faculty for a discussion on a wide range of topics. It was wonderful to listen to students’ stories and get to know them on a more personal level. I look forward to engaging with students across all of our programs in the School of Education as I continue my Listening Tour this year.
My congratulations to Ms. Dea Marx and Dr. Uzziel Pecina who presented at the Center for Scholastic Inquiry International Academic Research Conference October 5-7, 2016 in Scottsdale, Arizona. The presentation title was “Perspectives on the future of Latino leadership, community, and commitment: Kansas City Latino leaders speak out on their educational preparation.”
A reminder that Ted Stahl will be here today, October 18, from 12-1 in room 307 to provide information on our 2017 benefit options. Mikah Thompson and Kevin Sansberry also will be here on October 28 (from 12-2 in room 307) for search committee training. Please RSVP so we have an accurate account for the light lunch that will be provided from 11:30 a.m. – noon prior to that training.
Looking ahead about six weeks, please save the date for this year’s school wide Holiday Celebration on December 2 from 12-2 p.m. at Grand Street Café. More details will be forthcoming.
Finally, I wish to extend my thanks to the faculty who have submitted their formal transcripts in response to a university-wide request related to academic credentialing. If you have not yet done so or have questions, please contact Jackie Walter.
