I encourage many of you to submit a proposal for the July 16, 2016, Let’s Get Physical with STEAM! conference co-sponsored by Mid-America Association for the Education of Young Children (Mid-America AEYC) and the SOE’s Continuing and Professional Education. Presentation topics should focus on the acronym STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, & Math), and Physical Education. The goal is to show how topics in subject areas relate to each other and to the real world. Workshop content should show participants how to incorporate developmentally appropriate STEAM & Physical Education topics into the classroom. Presenters whose proposals are selected by the committee will be notified via email by April 8th, 2016 and all selected proposals will be submitted to KS and MO for approved training. Further information and the proposal form are found on the on the Mid-America AEYC website. Please note that the submission deadline is April 1st.
As another reminder, you may recall that last year we began collecting electronic gradebook information and syllabi from faculty who do not use the gradebook function in Blackboard. UM System records retention requires that all gradebooks be retained for seven (7) years. UMKC is complying with this requirement by first archiving all complete gradebooks from Blackboard. The next step is to secure electronic copies of gradebooks from instructors who did not use the gradebook function on Blackboard or Moodle. IS can pull gradebook and syllabi from an active blackboard site so all grades on blackboard are archived. If applicable, please email Chris Popoola firstname.lastname@example.org your electronic gradebook and syllabus for the Fall 15 semester by April 4th. You may call her with questions at x2260.
