Nineteen prospective students attended our fifth Graduate Information Session of the academic year on April 9th. My thanks to Ms. Christine Timmerman and to faculty members Mr. Connor Warner and Ms. Deb Woodard and Drs. Beverlye Brown, Michele Foster, Gus Jacob and Carolyn Thompson who led academic breakout sessions. Our final Graduate Information Session until fall will be Wednesday, June 3rd , from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
This week, in connection with the UMKC Office of Diversity and Inclusion, we will host the screening of the film, “Education is Not a Crime”. All UMKC faculty, staff and students are invited on Wednesday, April 15th, from 6-8:30 p.m. in room 117. Please note that this corrects the date that previously had been shared via enews.
This week, I also encourage faculty and staff to nominate deserving colleagues for our new Outstanding Faculty Award, Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award or Staff Excellence Award by the Friday, April 17th, deadline. Let’s give recognition for those who go above and beyond in their roles of supporting our students and making the SOE a leading urban-serving school of education!
As you know, Dr. Larry Long is the SOE’s 2015 Alumni Achievement Award winner. As part of the celebration of Dr. Long’s contributions to the SOE, he will present a talk to faculty, staff and students on Telemental health on Wednesday, April 22nd, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in room 307. Please plan to join us!
This year’s Fiesta on the Lawn will be Thursday, April 30th, from 3:30-5:30 p.m.—rain or shine on the SOE patio/lawn. All SOE students, faculty and staff are welcome; please RSVP.
