Reading First is a national initiative to support states in making every child a proficient reader (read at or above grade level) by the end of third grade. The PowerPoint presentations available on this site are designed to provide a professional development resource that is focused on scientifically based reading research. The intent of each PowerPoint is to suggest strategies for preventing reading difficulties starting in kindergarten and ensuring that all children read by the end of grade three.
