Research Interests

Research Interests
Dr. Bell’s research interests include issues of equity and social justice in mathematics education, integration of 
arts with mathematics, and preparing pre-service teachers to teach mathematics effectively in urban settings. 
Current Projects
In collaboration with researchers at The Ohio State University and the University of Florida, Dr. Bell is studying 
classroom discourse in algebra classes (7th through 10th grades) for the purpose of understanding more about 
the creation of classroom contexts that support learning mathematics with understanding.
