Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction
Curriculum and Instructional Leadership
Description
The master's in curriculum and instruction allows students the flexibility to create a degree program to meet her/his desire to become an accomplished teacher. In addition to core and supporting courses in curriculum and instruction, students choose coursework related to her/his educational role.

Curriculum
Degree only: Students choose twelve hours of approved coursework available in any college or school at UMKC to form a coherent body of work related to her/his educational goals. The total program is 36 credit hours, of which six of them are to be taken in the division of Curriculum and Instructional Leadership.
Degree with certification: Depending on chosen area and coursework already completed, students pursuing the degree with certification will have a program ranging in credit hours from 36 (usually those with a degree in education) up to 90 hours (usually students without a prior degree in education). Students pursuing both must first apply to the degree program and later apply to the Teacher Education program once all core course requirements are met.
For the general emphasis, classes are offered at the main Volker campus, the UMKC Northland location, and online.
