Curriculum and Instructional Leadership

Description

The Ed.S. in Reading Education is designed for students who want to optimize their understanding of reading/literacy strategies for PreK-12 classrooms and other levels.  Graduates will know how to organize and guide literacy programs that significantly improve the level of student reading/literacy achievement.  Professional opportunities for Ed.S. graduates include:

  • Literacy Coach
  • Reading Specialist
  • Reading Coordinator
  • Reading Clinician
  • College Reading Instructor
  • Reading Consultant
  • Specialist for Literacy Programs

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum 2.75 GPA; if applicable, any graduate credit must be at least 3.0 GPA
  • Two years of certified teaching experience
  • Completion of six (6) credit hours of graduate-level courses in reading education at UMKC

Application Procedure
