The Kansas City Star reports on SOE alumni successes in urban districts

Begun in 2005, the UMKC School of Education’s Institute for Urban Education is a four-year teacher education program with a curricular emphasis on math, science, and literacy that prepares teachers for success in urban classrooms by also introducing issues of social justice and multicultural learning styles.  Of the 63 students who have graduated from the program since 2009, the vast majority remain in the classroom, positively impacting student outcomes.
