Kat Nicolaus has spent 30 years as a teacher, department leader, small learning community leader, and instructional coach. With experience in classrooms from grades 1 through 12, Kat spent most of her teaching years in high school mathematics. Kat earned her B.A.Ed with an emphasis in music at Concordia University – Chicago and her M.A.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction from UMKC. While still teaching, she worked on DESE teams for item writing, content and bias review, and EOC cut-score setting, and has been a leader in curriculum writing and development in several area districts. Kat serves as a District Continuous Improvement consultant, facilitates MTDS Teacher Academy, and as a math consultant. She is passionate about teacher development and working to help teachers of all grades and subjects grow and strength their skills.
