With our diverse classrooms, offering comprehensible lessons for all students is critical in-person and online. Limited formal education and limited exposure to English creates challenges for many of our English Learners and their teachers. But fear not! This session will model techniques that engage our most marginalized students and help boost the achievement of the entire class. Participants will reflect on strategies that accelerate language acquisition and literacy development. The techniques are practical and can be used immediately online or in person.
This workshop will include:
•An interactive day of synchronous and asynchronous activities
•Research-based, practical techniques that boost language acquisition and literacy development
•Strategies that can be implemented immediately
•Video testimony by newcomer and SLIFE students
