Participants must complete Level I prior to attending Level II training.
Let’s dig deeper into the needs of students who struggle with literacy! Why is reading and writing so difficult for these students? What makes the greatest impact after a student seems to know letters and sounds? A large portion of instructional time in this training will be hands-on strategy development of effective instruction for students who show common characteristics of at-risk readers and writers.
Participants will look closely at student needs related to decoding for reading and spelling but will dig deeper into understanding how the Simple View of Reading can make instructional decisions easier. This workshop moves beyond the foundation and into implementation for greater student success.
This training will include the following topics:
- Simple View of Reading,
- Going Deeper in Student Errors for Tier II,
- Advanced Phonology,
- Phonics and Orthographic Mapping for Decoding and Writing, and
- Building Vocabulary.
There must be at least 10 participants registered by to have this workshop.
